GPT-4

Updated: May 18, 2023

Don't feel like reading? That's ok – listen to the episode below.

The newest version of GPT is the GPT-4. What does this mean for law3?

Well, the version 4 is quite impressive from a legal point of view. It even passed the bar exam! GPT-4 aced the Uniform Bar Exam (MBE+MEE+MPT) with a great final score.

The remarkable advancements in GPT-4 promise to redefine the capabilities of AI in legal tasks and processes. Beyond mere text analysis, GPT-4 now supports image inputs, empowering visual lawyers with the ability to generate captions, classifications, and in-depth analyses at an unprecedented level.

The model's capacity to process over 25,000 words of text paves the way for a lot of applications, including long-form content creation, extended conversations, and document search and analysis. The legal profession stands to benefit enormously from these developments, increasing efficiency and streamlining workflows.

However, it's important to approach GPT-4 with a healthy dose of caution. The AI model still grapples with issues such as social biases, hallucinations, and adversarial prompts, which could impact its reliability and accuracy. As GPT-4 continues to develop and mature, overcoming these limitations will be crucial in ensuring its successful integration into the legal field and beyond.

We use GPT-4 every day, and it helps a lot. Give it a try - it's a really useful tool! Just don't overdo it.

"AI is not a silver bullet. It's a tool to help us be better problem-solvers, but it is not a solution on its own." Fei-Fei Li, Co-Director of the Stanford Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence

Here are three strategies to infuse your AI-generated content with a touch of flair:

Spice It Up: To breathe life into your AI-generated text, sprinkle it with words that evoke strong emotions or sounds. Think of using onomatopoeic expressions like "buzz," "crack," and "boom" to add an extra dimension and engage your readers. Make your text pop!

Break Free from the AI Storytelling Mold: AI models like GPT-4 often follow an Aristotelian storytelling arc. GPT loves the Beginning, Middle and End. It begins with a title, loves to do long listings in the middle and then writes an "In conclusion" chapter. This is a great way to spot an AI-generated text! To make your text stand out, shatter these conventions. Break the structure and remove the long and tedious lists.

Set the Stage: Enhance the creative output of your AI by giving it context or specifying a writing style. For example, a prompt like "rewrite in the style of Chuck Palahniuk" can yield exciting and unique results. By guiding the AI with context, you're unlocking its potential for generating interesting and meaningful text.

Keep in mind that AI is only a tool. Just like with any tool, don't overuse it. People might quickly grow tired of the AI-driven style – sometimes, it's better to be genuine and even make a few errors along the way. Stay authentic!
